Seaspan Cates Demolition

Location: North Vancouver, BC
Completion: June 2015

MBG scope of work included the dismantling, separating and removal of the Steel Tug Repair Shop from the office building. Renovation of the remaining office building which included new electrical, sprinkler room and modification to the mechanical systems. Mechanical, electrical and communication services were switched over to the newly renovated office, as well as complete repairs to the office exterior, and installation of security fencing.

Seaspan Victoria Shipyards

Location: Esquimalt BC
Size: 10,400 sq.ft.
Completion: December 2014

Metal Building Group provided design, supply and installation on this project that included all structural steel, three concrete block stair enclosures, one concrete block elevator shaft, and elevator, 5 ton overhead top running bridge crane, aluminum en-trance and curtain wall system, 74 fixed windows, insulated exterior wall panes, and fire rated, 2nd and 3rd floor elevated slabs, three large rolling steel truck doors, and a roof safety line system. The project is part of Seaspan’s expansion and upgrade plans in order to service the Canadian Governments initiative called The National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy. As part of this initiative Seaspan will be building multiple new ships for the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard over the coming years. The complete VISSC building will be used for maintenance to Canada’s “Victoria Class” submarine fleet.

Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards

Location: North Vancouver, BC
Size: 23,000 sq.ft.
Completion: 2014

Metal Building Group scope of work included re-cladding of an existing Varco Pruden Building with insulated wall panels. Including roof re-insulation to R20, design and construction of an entire new endwall to support a custom, electrically operated, bi-parting sliding door 72’ W x 52’ H. The project also features a 25’W x 25’H door above for boat masts, and installation of (2) operable louvers 16’W x 16’H.

Fort St. James Green Energy Project

Location: Fort St. James, BC
Size: 30,000 sq.ft.
Completion: 2015

36.8 MW Biomass Power Plant with Iberdrola Energy Projects Canada and owner Dalkia/Fengate. MBG Buildings Inc. is supplying and installing 7 buildings including the Steam Turbine, Electrical/Administration, Warehouse, Receiving, Screening, Parking, and Gate House Buildings. MBG scope includes the structural steel, mezzanine decking, stairs and access ladders, overhead bridge cranes, insulated metal panels, electrical (high bay lighting, heat tracing, lightening protection), translucent wall panels and other accessories.
